It's a new year, so for many people, it's a goal-setting season. Before we begin, remember the most precious lessons are in the journey to your goals, not in the result.
It's important to remember also that the obtainment of the things you want is minor compared to the lessons learned on the journey. The primary purpose of establishing your goals is to shape you into the person it takes to achieve your goals.
For example, say your goal is to become rich; the most significant importance is not money. The most considerable importance to gaining riches lies in the skills, knowledge, determination and courage to go after your wealth goal. These qualities mean more than money because, without these qualities, the goal is inadequate.
Exercise.
Take a second to answer this question, and write it down if you wish. What type of person do you think you will need to become to achieve the goals you desire?
Take note of the information needed and the skills to learn to improve and grow into the person it will take to accomplish your chosen goals.
The answers you may find while doing this exercise may vary and throw up new goals for you to achieve. This creates the opportunity for you to develop your improvement journey further.
Work On Your Goals.
The capacity you hold along with the dedication will be matched with rewards. Your success and achievement will be a direct reflection of the work you put in, which is the real value of the goal because you have achieved what you set out to do and gained knowledge, wisdom, skillsets, and much more.
As the saying goes, "Life is what you make it." Right now, it's hard to comprehend making your dreams come true, but the truth is, all that is needed is to make that one small step and lots of other little ones to make this a reality.
Believe you can achieve. Whether we do or don't, the same amount of time passes, so why not incorporate small steps towards our dream into our daily lives? It's a journey, and it's the journey that makes us who we want to become.
Stop focussing on the result and appreciate the value the journey has to offer. The dream will come only by focusing on the things we need to develop to achieve those dream goals.
It's not about what we get in life but about the person we become.
