The first thing we need to understand about being human is that we all think differently. We all see things differently, and we all experience life on different levels.
This indicates that by our very essence, any chosen outlook on life will permanently be restricted and uneven.
It is essential, that if we desire to become more understanding of ourselves, others and the world, we must commit to learning and understanding this concept.
By doing this we must start by apprehending how our mind works on a foundational level.
Considering each of us has a unique perspective of how we see the world it's important to understand that our perspectives deform reality itself and it becomes challenging to view reality for what it is.
To honestly objectivize what reality is and what the actual truth is of a certain situation suggests we demand that we move away from our perceptions, biases and judgements.
I have come to learn that when we react to a situation or an undesirable event we are not reacting to the situation or event itself, we are merely reacting to our perception of that situation or event based on our past experiences.
We are all accepted into this world as clean slates and as time goes by we all develop strong and weak points conditioned by our home life, schooling, society, friends, the music we listen to the media we watch etc.
For example, if as a child you were walking down the street with your mother, and suddenly a man wearing a puffer jacket and a cap comes along, snatches your mother's handbag and makes a run for it, the likelihood that you develop the belief that all men wearing puffer jackets and caps are bad people is high
But the reality is that not all men who dress this way are bad people, we generalize based on that one bad experience. That experience deforms the actuality of reality, we then continue to go through life believing these beliefs and never questioning them.
It's hard to believe anything outside of what we have been conditioned to think, but with responsibility and understanding, anything can be achieved.
The main point I making here is that if we are born clean slates and we become conditioned to believe certain beliefs, follow certain religions and behave in certain ways we can recondition ourselves to identify certain patterns of thought and beliefs that no longer serve us.
